Ms. Toma’s practice includes litigating surety and insurance matters relating to construction cases, probate cases, and general business disputes.
Prior to joining Wolkin Curran, Ms. Toma had an extensive and varied career as a civil litigation attorney practicing in a myriad of areas, including construction law in which she represented owners, developers, and general contractors in construction disputes relating to defective construction and breaches of contract. She also practiced employment law, representing employees against public and private employers for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues, in violation of state and federal labor laws. A significant portion of Ms. Toma’s career was devoted to litigating and resolving hundreds of legal malpractice cases on behalf of Plaintiffs against attorneys who had committed malpractice in the areas of civil litigation, family law, probate, etc. She has also litigated insurance bad faith, products liability, personal injury, business, and public entity liability cases against Defendants including Ford Motor Company, Hankook Tire, City of Fresno, City of San Jose, State of California, Caltrans, the United States government, etc.
Regardless of the specific field of practice, Ms. Toma has excelled at working closely and well with her clients to address their legal matters by evaluating the merit of their cases, analyzing complex factual and legal issues, formulating case strategy, and resolving their problems — often expeditiously and economically via informal settlement or mediation.
