Ms. Tolson is a partner at Wolkin Curran. Her practice concentrates on advising on and litigating insurance coverage and construction related matters. She represents and counsels insurance companies on a wide variety of matters including bad faith claims, construction defect coverage, and analysis of general liability policies.

Prior to joining Wolkin Curran in 2016, Ms. Tolson worked for a national firm in San Francisco, where she defended high value insurance bad faith cases, and litigated complex construction defect matters as well as personal injury matters. She has an extensive background in the representation of developers and contractors in a wide array of construction-related cases including landslides, defective construction, contract disputes, and design deficiencies ranging from single family homes to large multi-unit complexes and building developments.  In addition to construction defect litigation, Ms. Tolson has successfully handled premises liability, unlawful detainer and wrongful eviction actions, real property disputes, HOA disputes, and death care industry cases. Ms. Tolson has obtained numerous favorable results on behalf of clients in all types of cases and in multiple venues throughout the Bay Area and California.

Her legal background prior to civil litigation was criminal prosecution, where she obtained valuable trial experience. Prior to joining the civil arena, Catharine worked for the District Attorney’s office in Santa Clara County where she assisted with and conducted misdemeanor jury trials, and felony and misdemeanor preliminary hearings. While in law school, Catharine interned for the Homicide Department at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office where she was written up in the Chronicle for winning a preliminary hearing that charged a defendant with accessory to murder for his refusal to testify against his cousin.

Catharine is the recipient of the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Rising Star Award from the distinguished Super Lawyers organization, and listed as one of the Top Women Attorneys in Northern California by SF Magazine in December 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
