James D. CurranJames D. Curran

James D. Curran, a partner, specializes in construction litigation. Since graduating from law school in 1986, Mr. Curran has represented and defended the interests of sureties, insurance carriers, owners, developers, lenders, contractors, subcontractors, architects and engineers in a wide variety of construction related matters. Mr. Curran has assisted sureties in taking over and completing public works and private projects, resolving payment bond claims, pursuing indemnitors, finding assets, and obtaining recovery in bankruptcy court. He has represented the interests of insurance carriers on complex construction coverage issues, including defending bad faith actions and prosecuting declaratory relief actions. Mr. Curran has handled all sorts of construction issues, including delays on public works projects, performance and completion issues, mechanic's liens and stop notices, negotiating real estate purchases, resolving disputes with public entities, and defending a variety of interests in construction defect litigation (from the soils to the roof caps, and everything in between). He has taken cases to trial and has established effective programs for investigating and resolving claims prior to litigation.

Mr. Curran received his Bachelor of Arts from Santa Clara University in 1980, and his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1986. Mr. Curran is a member of local, state and national bar associations, including the State Bar of California, American Bar Association, Torts and Insurance Practice Section, the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee, the Forum on Construction Industry, and the Associated General Contractors.
